Archery Camp Update

posted Sep 27, 2014, 5:30 AM by Scout Troop 352   [ updated Sep 27, 2014, 5:30 AM ]
We had 10 scouts come and enjoy learning about archery. The scouts learned about the different types of boys, arrows, rules of the range, and much more. They learned how to inspect arrows for those that may not be safe.

Some of the scouts even got to make their own bowstring. For the others, a special time will be arranged for them to complete this part of the merit badge.

But perhaps the most exciting thing for them was to be able to practice shooting the bows at targets. Each scout had to shoot and earn 150 points using at most 30 arrows. Each scout successfully completed this, many of them in 20 arrows or less.

Despite having only 3 targets, meaning that only 3 scouts could shoot at a time, the scouts patiently waiting their turns and encouraged their peers. You as parents should be very proud of how your scouts behaved this past Friday night and Saturday.

Lastly, I want to congratulate George for his fine shooting. On his last "end" of arrows, he host 7 of 10 into the bullseye. Great job George!
